Senior Occupational Therapist, Rehabilitation

This an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Occupational Therapy team at Graythwaite Rehabilitation Centre. The centre provides inpatient rehabilitation programme as well as a Day Rehab Programme which offers high-intensity, multidisciplinary rehabilitation through a day admission. As well as providing clinical care, this position joins with existing senior staff to lead and implement service initiatives, staff supervision, development and training.

Employment Type: Temporary Part Time until 31 May 2027 (with the possibility of ongoing employment)

Remuneration: $56.69 - $58.52 per hour

Where you'll be working

Graythwaite Rehabilitation Centre including Rehab Day programme, Ryde Hospital, Northern Sydney Local Health District. The Occupational Therapy team consists of Occupational Therapists and Allied Health Assistants, each working in a multidisciplinary team providing assessment and treatment. You will join a highly motivated team, which has a strong culture of clinical supervision and training, professional development and a quality improvement programme.

Ryde Hospital is having an incredible $479 million complete hospital redevelopment that will transform the delivery of healthcare for the Ryde local community.

The Ryde Hospital Redevelopment will result in new health facilities and enhanced services including emergency, ICU/critical care, inpatient units, outpatient/ambulatory care services and much more.

Construction commenced in early 2023, and will provide you with a wonderful and exciting opportunity to be part of the Ryde team to change the future health services for the Ryde Community completely.


What you'll be doing
This position is the senior Occupational Therapist within the Rehabilitation Day programme and works with the Occupational Therapy Rehab Team lead to ensure delivery of evidence informed service provision and clinical support to Occupational Therapists and Allied health assistants working in the rehabilitation centre.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Full registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia. Evidence of extensive clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist Level 2.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement activities or service evaluation process. Experience in clinical teaching and supervision of students, level 1/2 Allied Health Professionals and/or Allied Health Assistants.
  • Demonstrated proficient skills and knowledge in the provision of current occupational therapy practice within a rehabilitation or outpatient setting. A strong commitment to an evidence-based rehabilitation service to provide for consumers, carers and families requiring assessment, case management, intervention, appropriate referral and discharge planning.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in ability to work autonomously with limited supervision. Have the ability to prioritise work, manage a demanding workload, apply high level reasoning skills and have independent professional judgement.
