Our ongoing support to our clients’ planned projects and operations requires a full time Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team of engineers and geologists. The company's preferred candidate has a minimum of ten years practical experience as a geotechnical engineer supporting operational mines. A Masters or Ph D in Geotechnical Engineering, or enrolment in course, will be highly regarded.
The successful applicant will work with our geotechnical projects group and will be mentored by principal engineers and will mentor our junior engineers. The role is primarily based in our Perth office and will be supporting our clients in Australia and overseas.
Reporting to the Principal Engineer, key responsibilities will include:

• Geotechnical investigations into falls of ground and wall instabilities
• Scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies for open pit and underground mines
• Design Data collection programs and interpretation of results for geotechnical studies (rock mass domains, Structural analysis, Rock property test interpretation)
• Advice for underground mining operations and projects, addressing: mining method selection, sequence, dilution, capital standoff, ground support schemes (design and assessment) and impacts of uncertainty in geotechnical data
• Advice for open pit mining operations and projects, addressing: data bias, structural environment, groundwater, rock mass strength, uncertainty and confidence impact on design criteria, mining and slope management practices
• 3D non-linear numerical modelling
• Interpretation of seismic data and seismic hazard assessment
• Backfill selection, design and advice

Key selection criteria include:

• At least ten years mine site operational experience or consulting experience in hard rock operations addressing the key responsibilities
• A Masters Degree or higher in Geotechnical Engineering
• Written cover letter that directly addresses your experience of the key responsibilities
• The right attitude to fit within our dynamic company and contract situations that we work with
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Practical and technical knowledge of underground and open pit mining
• Experience with stability analysis and geotechnical monitoring systems, dilution assessment, rock mass characterisation, and improvements to site operational systems
• Applicants must have the right to work in Australia, or be able to obtain rights to work in Australia, and be currently residing in Western Australia or willing to relocate to Western Australia

Remuneration
The remuneration for this role will be commensurate with the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
