Senior Data Engineer

- Support the continuous improvement of the Department's SQL, Power Platform and Azure database environments including the optimisation of production databases and database management systems to maintain the data integrity, operational efficiently and security.- Analyse business requirements, provide guidance and advice and design databases that fulfil diverse user requirements and satisfy relevant departmental, government and industry standards.- Provide expert technical database and applications administration support services for the DJAG database applications.- Provide secondary level technical support and consultation for database related incidents and requests logged via the Service Desk ensuring service level targets are met. Report and maintain statistical and historical metrics to measure and monitor service health and usage.- Provide consultancy services to programmers in the team to assist in the optimisation of development databases.- Actively develop, implement and maintain standards, guidelines and knowledge base articles for database installation, administration and support while ensuring compliance to change control processes, relevant industry standards and government policies.
- Proficient in on-premise SQL Server database management, including SSRS and SSIS.- Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric.- Working knowledge of Databricks.- Working knowledge of data integrity principles and security practices.- Proficient in T-SQL code.- Analysis skills, including ability to analyse business requirements, database performance metrics.- Stakeholder management skills - work closely with other team members, leaders, analysts and other stakeholders to understand data needs andrequirements.
