The Roster Team is a part of Business, Tax and Customs within HMRC, providing important front line checks on Imports and Exports for the whole of the UK and as such is a Business Critical unit.
As part of Roster your role will be to check declarations provided by traders ensuring documents and licenses are correct, and where needed requesting further documentation prior to allowing the goods to leave and enter the United Kingdom.
The Roster Customer Advisor position is a shift based role. Working on a 24/7 rotated pattern over 8 weeks, including nights, weekends, and Bank Holidays. Flexibility is key in this role, as you’ll alternate between office days and home working based on shift patterns. This role attracts an Annual Attendance Allowance of 26.15%, due to the 24/7 working patterns. Out of hours and weekend customer cover requirement.

We offer a generous leave allowance, starting at 25 days and increasing by a day for every year of qualifying service up to a maximum of 30 days.

Sift

Interview
During the panel interview, you will be asked behaviour - based questions to explore in detail what you are capable of and strengths based questions to also explore what you enjoy and your motivations relevant to the job role.
This is an example of a strengths-based question:
“It is often said that the customer's needs should come first. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?”
There is no expectation or requirement for you to prepare for the strengths-based questions in advance of the interview, though you may find it helpful to spend some time reflecting on what you enjoy doing and what you do well.
