JOB TITLE: Business Development Manager
REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: CEO
JOB PURPOSE:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our team in Surulere, Lagos Island. The BDM will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with clients, and driving revenue growth for our HR Consultancy and Financial Advisory agency. This role is key to expanding our client base and enhancing our market presence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical/Operations duties
Business Development & Strategy:
· Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve company revenue goals.
· Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the HR and Financial employment sectors.
· Analyze market trends, industry developments, and competitor strategies to identify areas for growth.
· Client Relationship Management:
· Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships by understanding their needs and providing tailored HR/Financial solutions.
· Act as the primary point of contact for key clients, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
· Regularly engage with clients to identify additional service opportunities and ensure contract renewals.
Sales & Marketing:
· Lead sales efforts by identifying potential clients, conducting presentations, and negotiating contracts.
· Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute campaigns that promote the company’s services.
· Prepare and deliver compelling sales proposals, pitches, and presentations to potential clients.
Revenue Generation:
· Meet and exceed sales targets, ensuring consistent growth in revenue and profitability.
· Monitor and report on sales performance, adjusting strategies as needed to optimize results.
· Explore and develop new revenue streams through innovative service offerings.
Team Collaboration:
· Work closely with the HR, recruitment teams, and Head of Finance to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to clients.
· Provide insights and feedback to the management team on market trends, client needs, and service improvements.
· Mentor and support junior team members in business development activities.
· Supervisory duties
Team Guidance:
· Lead and support the business development team in their daily activities.
· Provide direction and help team members prioritize tasks.
· Track the team’s progress toward meeting sales and client acquisition targets.
· Offer feedback and suggest improvements where necessary.
Client Interaction Oversight:
· Oversee the team’s interactions with clients to ensure high-quality service.
· Address any client concerns that team members cannot resolve.
KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES
Sales Targets:
· How well the team meets or exceeds sales goals.
· The number of new clients brought in.
Client Retention:
· How many existing clients stay with the company?
· Frequency of repeat business from clients.
Revenue Growth:
· Increase in company revenue due to new business.
· Contribution of new clients to overall revenue.
Lead Conversion:
· Percentage of potential leads turned into clients.
· Speed of converting leads into clients.
Market Expansion:
· The number of new markets or sectors entered.
· Revenue from new markets or sectors.
Reporting:
· Accuracy and timeliness of management reports.
· Quality of insights provided for decision-making.

Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Human Resources, or a related field.
MBA or relevant advanced degree is an advantage.
Minimum of 3-5 years of working experience specifically in the financial sector, Oil and Gas, or Energy sector as a BDM
Proven track record of achieving sales targets and growing client portfolios.
Experience in the Lagos business environment, and Nigeria generally, is highly desirable.
Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills.
Ability to think strategically and implement effective business development plans.
Proficiency in using CRM software and other business development tools.
