Make your mark for patients

We’re looking for a Research Scientist in Compound Management who is a problem-solver with excellent communication skills to join our Patient Solutions/Global Chemistry department, based in our office in Braine-l’Alleud, Belgium.


About the Role
As a key member of the Compound Management (CM) group, you’ll manage the storage, preparation, tracking, and delivery of R&D compound samples. Your work will ensure efficient access to high-quality samples, central to UCB’s drug discovery process. You’ll coordinate the logistics of shipping Novel Chemical Entities (NCEs) globally between UCB research sites, collaborators, and contract research organizations.


Who You’ll Work With
You’ll act as a centralized coordinator across all UCB sites and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of CM services. Key collaborations include daily interactions with Evotec, the central compound repository for UCB. Your role will also involve providing local support at Braine and remote support to research sites in the UK and USA.


What You’ll Do

• Help UCB staff, CROs, and logistics companies by tracking orders and resolving issues using UCB’s compound management software (SCREEN and GIMS). Ensure smooth communication and support for end-users.
• Reformat local compounds into standard containers for shipment to Toulouse.
• Check shipments for adherence to UCB guidelines on Trade Compliance and controlled drugs regulations.
• Operate as a key UCB actor for the Federal Agency of Medicines and Health Products (AFMPS) to manage the stock of controlled drugs at the Braine site, including restocking, analysis, delivery, tracking, and destruction.

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry.
• Experience in a compound management group and basic knowledge of organic chemistry. Familiarity with handling chemicals and automation in R&D.
• Ability to quickly identify and resolve malfunctions, take initiative, and work autonomously.
• Familiarity with managing urgencies and coordinating effectively.
• Strong communication skills
• Fluent in French and English, written and verbal
