Nurse Unit Manager - Orthopaedics

Our Orthopaedic surgery wards provide nursing care for patients undergoing a range of treatments, including spinal surgeries, joint replacements and fracture repairs. We are the country's largest provider of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery, with our surgeons among the best in the country as well as being renowned internationally.
Our teams perform over 4,000 knee and hip replacement surgeries annually, and care for over 1100 patients with orthopaedic trauma, such as fractures, dislocations, and soft tissue injuries.
You will be responsible for the overall clinical management and team leadership of the ward, providing comprehensive orthopaedic services and care, and specialising in limb reconstruction, orthopaedic oncology (cancer), some fractures and trauma, sports orthopaedic surgery. We also provide robotic surgery, and operating on back and spine, hip, knee, foot and ankle, shoulder, and hand, wrist and elbows.

Key areas of focus for this role include:
- As part of the Epworth leadership team, delivering an exceptional patient and staff experience in accordance with Epworth Health Care values
- Ensuring patient flow is managed whilst providing high standards of patient care
- Leading a team through role-modelling empathetic and person-centred care for patients, families, doctors and staff
- Building and nurturing a strong capable workforce within the unit
- Promoting and supporting ongoing learning and education for all team members
- Managing recruitment, staff retention, professional development, financial management, occupational health and safety
- Supporting the goals and strategy of the organisation
- Have current nursing (RN) registration with AHPRA
- Be an experienced clinical leader in Orthopaedic/Surgical Nursing, capable of engaging staff to deliver the Epworth Health Care vision and strategic goals
- Demonstrated ability in financial management and an understanding of budgets.
- Be passionate about patient care and achieving high quality clinical outcomes
- Possess excellent communication and customer liaison skills with proven ability to motivate and lead a team
- Be highly accountable and demonstrate an empathetic, supportive and engaging style
- Be flexible and adaptable to changing environments
- Have demonstrable experience in building relationships with all stakeholders
- Note that related Post Graduate qualifications (clinical or leadership) desirable
