Sustainability Management Systems Consultant

Sustainable Footprints Ltd is a boutique compliance, risk and sustainability consultancy who are working on a number of high profile and aspirational projects. We work across multiple industries with no client being the same. We have been supporting organisations to define and deliver their strategic objectives since 2009, enabling them to be more sustainable.
We service the following core areas:
- Net Zero and Energy,
- ISO management system implementation and compliance
- Carbon Footprinting / GHG Inventories & LCA
- Social Sustainability,
- Organisational Change.
- Provide expert consultancy services to clients remotely and on-site, guiding them through the implementation of ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems), ISO 50001 (Energy Management Systems), and ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems).
- Conduct gap analyses to identify areas for improvement in a client's existing systems or assess their readiness for implementing a new system.
- Develop customised implementation plans tailored to each client's unique needs and industry.
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions to educate clients on the relevant ISO standard and its implementation process.
- Support clients with documentation development and record-keeping processes.
- Conduct audits to verify compliance with the chosen ISO standard.
- Provide technical assistance and support to senior members of the team, including research tasks, data synthesis and analysis, calculations and report writing.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the latest revisions and best practices related to ISO 14001, ISO 50001, and ISO 9001.
- Stay abreast of climate change/sustainability legislation/policy guidance.
- Participate in team meetings, client briefs and other meetings as and when required supporting your colleagues across the different product/service offerings as required.
- Contribute to the prioritisation of project actions and meet commitments on an ongoing basis while taking ownership and responsibility for the quality and completion of own work.
- Collaborate with the product development team to design and implement features related to ISO 14001, ISO 50001, and ISO 9001 management systems within our software/consulting platform.
- Ensure the product suite effectively guides clients through the implementation process for each standard.
- Contribute to business development proposals to enhance service offering.
Here is what we need from you:
Academic Background: A science-based background is preferred, such as a relevant degree (e.g., Environmental Science, Engineering, Geography, Social Sciences) or equivalent qualification in a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience implementing ISO management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 50001, ISO 9001 preferred).
- Proven experience in consulting with clients on sustainability and environmental management issues, or experience as an in-house ISO compliance management systems manager.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English, with fluency in additional languages a plus.
- Ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex concepts in writing and presentations.
- Confident and articulate communicator, adept at interacting with all levels, including senior executives.
- Committed to producing detailed, quality outputs, including immaculate document formatting and presentation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work flexibly under pressure and adapt to changing project demands.
- Self-starter who can design and deliver work on their own initiative.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis.
- Experience managing or supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of management systems related to environment, energy, sustainability, governance (e.g., ESOS, ISO 50001, ISO 14001, ISO9001).
- Up to 75% travel may be required. The ability to travel independently, adapt to different work environments, and possess a valid passport is essential. A full UK driver's license and own vehicle are preferred, with a willingness to obtain necessary travel visas a plus.
- Previous experience working in a consultancy or managed services environment with experience or a recognised lead auditors qualification in the following:
- ISO 50001 - Energy Management Systems
- ISO 14001 – Environmental Management Systems
- ISO 9001 – Quality Management Systems
- ISO 14064 - Greenhouse Gas Emissions series
- ISO 45001 – H&S Management Systems
- ESG - Environmental Social Governance
- ISO 22301 - Business Continuity
- ESOS - Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme
- SECR - Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting
- A third level qualification, with a minimum of 5 year’s experience in a relevant role in industry.
- Commercial awareness for business development activities (i.e. previous experience preparing proposals and marketing materials); and,
- Strong research skills and attention to detail with an emphasis on delivering technically excellent outputs;

Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive market based salary
- Enhanced pension contribution on top of personal contribution.
- 25 days annual leave in addition to bank holidays, with the option to ‘sell back’ up to 5 days per annum.
- We offer a flexible work arrangement that allows you to accrue up to 1 day of unused work time per month. This accrued time can be used within 6 weeks of the following month-end for personal appointments, errands, or extending a weekend.
- Encourage staff to undertake 2 days of volunteering per year on charitable / educational work.
