Job description
Radio and Audio Review
- To help establish and be the secretariat lead for the next Digital Radio and Audio Review which is due to start in 2025 and be completed by 2026.
- To manage key work streams relating to the Review including research projects relating to future trends in radio and audio listening.
- To helping to support the prominence of UK radio services in cars and commercial vehicles working closely with radio and motor industry stakeholders including contributing to a project to assess the issues.
- To work closely with the TV Team on links with the Future of TV Project which is considering the long-term future of Digital Terrestrial TV Services (Freeview) after 2034.
Leading work, following advice to the Secretary of State, on whether specific tech platforms should as operators of regulated radio selection services - these decisions will be made from mid/late 2025.

Essential Requirement:
- Seeing the big picture: able to think strategically, with an ability to understand market trends and technological change and to align work with wider DCMS and government objectives
- Delivering at pace: ability to work independently and flexibly across a diverse and busy team, to support new and emerging priorities.
- Communicating and influencing: excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to describe, explain and make the case for evidence-based policy decisions. The ability to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely to colleagues and senior stakeholders.
- Making effective decisions: good organisational skills and ability to assess and prioritise workload and take the initiative.
- An interest in UK media and media policy issues.
- An understanding of how the Government takes decisions and how Departments work together.
- Experience of building strong, trusted relationships with a wide range of internal and external organisations.

Selection process details
- A CV setting out your career history, with key responsibilities and achievements. Please ensure you provide employment history that relates to the essential and desirable criteria, and that any gaps in employment history within the last 2 years are explained. The CV should not exceed more than 2 x A4 pages and you should insert your CV into the "Job History" section on Civil Service Jobs on the Civil Service Jobs application form.
- A Statement of Suitability (max 750 words) explaining how you consider your personal skills, qualities and experience provide evidence of your suitability for the role in reference to the essential requirements highlighted. You may also choose to reference the desirable skills listed however these will not be considered in the assessment of your application except in circumstances where there are a high number and calibre of candidates.
In the event of a large number of applicants, an initial sift will be conducted on the statement of suitability. Those who are successful in the initial sift will then be scored on all elements of the application.

The interview process will assess behaviours, strengths, and experience starting with a presentation. The question for the presentation will be provided prior to interview.

You will not be made aware of the strengths being assessed prior to your interview.
As part of your interview, you will be asked to deliver a short oral presentation. Full details of this, including the topic, length of time, and whether or not you will need to use visual aids, will be sent to you prior to your interview.
Your interview will take place remotely via Google Meets.

Please be aware the levels of national security clearance are changing which may impact on the level needed for this role by the time of appointment. If the vacancy is offered as FTA/Loan, existing Civil Servants must join on a Loan basis only. Prior agreement to be released on loan must be obtained before commencing the application process. In the case of Civil Servants, the terms of the loan will be agreed between the home and host department and the Civil Servant. This includes grade on return.
A reserve list may be held for a period of 12 months from which further appointments can be made.
