Quality Assurance Team Leader

We are a family-owned BRC A grade accredited vegetable processor which is rapidly expanding and we are looking for a person with experience of BRC in a hands on, factory based environment. We are a small team and are therefore looking for a multi-skilled person who is also able to assist the factory manager in the day to day running of the factory. You will stand in for him when he is absent, as well as helping out on the line on occasion. The successful candidate will be heading up the technical function, supported by our technical consultant where required. This will be both factory floor and desk-based role, but the emphasis will always be on the factory floor.
Responsibilities for the role will include:
· Assist the factory manager to complete the production plan in an efficient manner.
· Constantly ensure that the highest quality and food safety standards are adhered to and identify and action any issues that may affect product quality and safety.
· Ensure that full traceability maintained for all products.
· Understand and follow the HACCP plan and associated documentation.
· Ensure records for all production process are properly completed.
· Fully understand the BRC standard and know what standards are required in a BRC accredited factory.
· Implement all documentation, systems and procedures required to meet the BRC standard, reviewing and updating them as required.
· Lead all customer visits and audits.
· Carry out internal audits such as GMP, GHP, hygiene, fabric, etc. and ensure actions are carried out and work is completed for all actions.
· Be the first point of technical contact both for customers and internally.
· Communicate with customers and investigate and respond to any customer complains.
· Carry out training sessions with the staff as required.
· Ensure cleaning procedures and schedules are followed and ensure cleaning documentation is completed correctly, hygiene audits are completed and all hygiene standards are adhered to.
· Manage the factory when the factory manager is absent.
· Ensure that plans are implemented for continuous improvement with regard to staff engagement, food safety, quality and safety culture, hygiene, efficiency of production and cleaning.
Essential / Desirable skills include:
· Experience working with the BRC standard and having responsibility for its management.
· HACCP training essential
· Food Hygiene training essential
· Internal auditing training
· High attention to detail to ensure standards are met
· Good communication skills.
· Familiarity with Microsoft computer systems.
· A hands-on approach is essential, whether that is eg, carrying out a full clean of each area and piece of equipment with the staff to understand the issues and ensure the staff understand how the clean is to be carried out; to helping to peel onions; reviewing the paperwork the staff are filling in or carrying out internal audits; replying to customer queries, writing specifications, etc.
The Company:
· The new owners have invested heavily in the site, equipment and staff and are dedicated to making the company known for the quality and reliability of their products and service.
· Training will be provided where required.
The working hours are Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm with flexibility to meet the needs of the business. Please only apply is you are currently eligible to live and work in the UK and are willing to relocate if you do not already reside in the region. No agencies.
