Job Summary
IHP Ltd are seeking a detail-oriented PIA or Meat Inspector [trainee or fully qualified] to join our quality assurance team at our poultry abattoir . The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that products meet the required standards of quality and safety. This position involves inspecting poultry meat products on a production line, implementing HACCP principles, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations. The Inspector will work closely with production teams to identify areas for improvement and ensure that all quality assurance protocols are adhered to.
Responsibilities
1. Inspect (including visually, handling & touching the slaughtered birds and offal) the product on the production line at different stages of the process to ensure poultry are all healthy and inspect carcasses to make sure that no diseases are present and reject any product that doesn't make the grade.
2. Candidates need to have good English communication skills (verbal, written and reading).
3. They will have to be able record all rejections accurately so that losses are recouped fully.
4. Communicate with FSA & auditing officials clearly & accurately.
5. When the employee is not acting as a meat inspector then they will be required to assist in other areas of production e.g. Quality Assurance checks, working in other areas of the evisceration area & packing area etc.
6. To ensure that the plant consistently produces product to legal and customer specifications.
7. Adhere to the company Food Safety & HACCP, Health and Safety and environmental procedures.
8. Complete any delegated documents clearly and in a timely manner which reflects production.
9. To develop yourself to ensure that your training is kept in line with current requirements / legislation. Compete the required training to meet company production requirements.
10. To provide cover to different production areas when required.

Pay: £11.44-£11.75 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week

Requirements
- Level 2 Award for Proficiency in Poultry Meat Inspection is preferred but training can be given [training will take up to 6 months to complete]
- Knowledge of Food Safety HACCP principles and their application in a manufacturing environment [preferably in meat industry].
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey findings and recommendations.
