Overview
As a Night Security Officer, you will ensure the safety and security of our residents and provisions during night shifts. Your primary responsibilities will include monitoring premises, addressing concerns, and responding to emergencies. This role is vital in maintaining a safe, welcoming environment while ensuring the smooth operation of our services overnight.
Responsibilities
oConduct regular patrols of the premises to maintain safety and security.
oMonitor access points to ensure only authorised individuals enter.
oRespond promptly to alarms, disturbances, or unauthorised activities.
oAct as the first point of contact for residents during night hours.
oAddress resident queries or concerns in a professional and supportive manner.
oPromote adherence to house rules to maintain a respectful and orderly environment.
oRespond swiftly to emergencies, such as fire alarms or security breaches.
oDe-escalate conflicts or challenging situations when they arise.
oDocument and report incidents accurately for review by the day team or management.
oPerform routine checks on facilities, such as common areas and security systems, ensuring functionality and cleanliness.
oReport maintenance issues or other concerns requiring attention to the relevant team.
oMaintain clear and detailed shift logs for effective handovers.
oUphold Howarth Housing Lifeline’s policies and procedures, with a focus on safeguarding and confidentiality.
oFoster a positive and safe environment aligned with the organisation’s mission and values.
Experience
Essential:
oExperience in a security or support role, preferably in housing or a related sector.
oExcellent interpersonal and communication skills.
oAbility to respond effectively and remain calm in emergencies or challenging situations.
oBasic proficiency with IT tools, such as email and incident reporting systems.
oAvailability to work a fixed pattern of 9-hour night shifts, 5 nights per week.
Desirable:
oTraining or experience in conflict resolution or safeguarding.
oFamiliarity with issues affecting individuals experiencing homelessness.
oKnowledge of health and safety or security protocols.
