The Health and Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring that all health and safety protocols are followed and that the workplace complies with relevant health and safety legislation within the energy industry. The officer will implement, monitor, and review protective and preventive safety measures and work to prevent accidents, injuries, and health problems.
Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations, laws, and standards.
• Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines. • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to safety standards. Perform risk assessments and identify potential hazards within the workplace. • Develop risk mitigation strategies and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure the implementation of safety measures to reduce risks.
• Provide guidance on health and safety best practices.
• Lead investigations into workplace accidents, injuries, and nearmisses.
• Prepare detailed reports on incidents, identifying root causes and recommending preventative measures.
• Maintain records of incidents and safety inspections.
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
• A continuous improvement and proactive safety management

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, or IOSH are highly desirable. • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations, preferably within the energy industry.
• In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to conduct field inspections in various environments, which may include climbing, standing, and walking for extended periods.
• Willingness to travel to various remote sites and potentially hazardous environments, as required.
• Adherence to strict safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
• Must be able to commute to Cheltenham
• Eligible to work permanently in the UK
