The New Foscote Hospital has been successfully established in Banbury for over 40 years and has provided services and treatments to thousands of people from across the region during this time. We have over 50 consultants, all of whom are leaders in their specialist fields and choose to hold their private practices here, working alongside our friendly, highly qualified and experienced nursing and support teams.
Role Purpose:
We have a great opportunity for an experienced Chef to join us at The New Foscote Hospital on a Bank Worker contract. They will support the Head Chef and Facilities Manager in the provision of a meal and snack service to patients, staff and visitors ensuring that the meals provided are to the highest possible culinary and hygienic standards.

Role Purpose:
We have a great opportunity for an experienced Chef to join us at The New Foscote Hospital on a Bank Worker contract. They will support the Head Chef and Facilities Manager in the provision of a meal and snack service to patients, staff and visitors ensuring that the meals provided are to the highest possible culinary and hygienic standards.
Core Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and production of the meal and snack service throughout the hospital in accordance with the required standards.
- Take responsibility for the management of the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef covering the production of meals, the requisitioning of supplies in accordance with the hospital's purchasing regulations and the safe/hygienic control and storage of food and beverages.
- Maintain the kitchen area in accordance with the requirements of the Food Safety Act 1990 and other environmental health regulations as may be applied from time to time.
- Ensure that catering services throughout the hospital are of the highest possible standard and are within food hygiene guidelines and health & safety policies.
- Drive and maintain high standards of service throughout the hospital
- Ensure all catering services have the highest possible impact on patients’ perception and experience of the hospital services
- Collaborate closely and effectively with all other departments within the hospital
- Assist the Head Chef with internal and external audits
- Liaise with maintenance and/or suppliers with requests for machinery repair as required and appropriate
- Maintain a courteous and professional relationship with all colleagues, patients and consultants
- Ensure Health & Safety guidelines are adhered to
- Fully comply with food hygiene guidelines
- Effectively communicate key information such as stock levels, storage issues, bin levels and other day-to-day pertinent information to the Head Chef
- Represent the department at the daily huddle as and when requested
- Be accountable for own standards of work
- Respect and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Attend appropriate training sessions to improve standard of practice.
- Attend all mandatory training sessions.
- Adhere to the hospital policies, procedures and standards.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings.
- Maintain courteous and professional relationships with all colleagues, visitors and consultants.
- Promote effective communication within all department areas.
- Support colleagues and work co-operatively to promote good team morale.
- Perform any other duties as required and deemed competent to do so.
- Actively work to maintain the standards set by The Care Quality Commission.
- Results to Patient Satisfaction Surveys
- Feedback from colleagues
- Results of Inspections
