CLd N Ports are looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice to provide support to our Purfleet Civils Department. The successful candidate will be enrolled onto the Maintenance Operations & Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship and will receive full support from the organisation throughout the 3-year training programme, which will include both on site and college attendance to complete this apprenticeship.
Your role
§ To be placed on secondment with key term contracts domestically in the UK and within the CLDN terminals in Europe to gain experience in real life situations.
§ To be trained in the specific mechanical and electrical processes in the port environment, alongside tradesmen from term contractors which will include small plant and machinery used on the terminal.
§ To be trained in the hydraulic systems within the port environment, by being placed with term contractors. To understand and work from schematic drawings with a view to problem solve any breakdown. In addition, to be able to repair and maintain all pumps and systems.
§ To be trained in all heating and plumbing control systems within the port.
§ To trained on the control systems on the BMS system, whilst being able to adjust and maintain all pumps and valve systems.
§ To be conversant with schematic drawing for high and low voltage.
§ To understand, maintain and manage the communications systems on the telemetry integrated into critical systems.
§ To be comfortable working on floating assets alongside the workforce.
§ To become conversant with the heavy plant used in the terminal workshop and to understand and work on heavy diesel engines.
Your profile
§ You will hold GCSE level 4 or functional skills Level 2 in Maths and English (or equivalent).
§ An interest in developing a Civils Engineering career.
§ It is important that you have a good work ethic and good organisational skills.
§ You will have good written and verbal communication skills.
§ You must be a self-motivated individual, with a flexible approach to work.
§ You must be able to work within a team.
§ Good timekeeping is essential.
§ Must be willing to undertake any duties that may arise to contribute to the day-to-day running of department.
§ Ideally, you will hold a full UK driving licence.
