BACKGROUND
DAI seeks a Director of Investment for an upcoming USAID-funded opportunity in Ukraine entitled Support for Trade, Recovery Opportunities, and National Growth in Ukraine (STRONG UA). This new activity will build on the work of several USAID-funded programs in Ukraine to significantly increase investment and improve SME competitiveness and will be a major component of USAID’s Economic Stability and Recovery Initiative (ESRI). The new award will work to increase SME access to finance, improve market linkages, foster a better business enabling environment, boost job creation, and increase exports. The anticipated value of this program is $100-$300 million with a significant percentage of funding to be implemented through competitively awarded, pay-for-results grants and subcontracts.
POSITION DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Investments will serve as the technical lead for all domestic transactions under STRONG-UA, overseeing primarily Component One operations. This role involves creating, managing, optimizing and overseeing transaction networks and their day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate must possess a robust investment background, demonstrating a track record of successful deal completions, and the ability to effectively work in a dynamic operational environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 5 years of experience in investment banking, including a leadership role within the investment banking division; experience in mentoring and developing investment teams.
- Proven track record of the deal execution, of taking part in and successfully leading teams through all stages of the deal process, from initiation to closeout.
- Proven ability to build and oversee networks of transaction advisors and deal-makers, including the creation of effective and motivational compensation structures.
- Experience across multiple countries, including on both emerging and developed markets.
- Strong knowledge of macroeconomics and familiarity with banking principles is a plus.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance requirements in the investment landscape, particularly for local transactions would be a plus.
