About Us
NICDAM is an educational development trust registered as an NPO and PBO, with a focus on developing programmes to assist government and development within communities. Our programmes strive to strengthen and develop the skills of people/communities and to promote social behaviour change over the widest possible spectrum, but mainly in the health and social development space.
NICDAM is appointed by USAID to implement the “Children, Adolescents, and Families in the HIV Epidemic in the Free State Province (CAFHE)” in the Thabo Mofutsanyane and Lejweleputswa districts in the Free State province.
NICDAM seeks to appoint: Finance Manager
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Manager to oversee the financial operations and ensure fiscal accountability across our programs. This role is critical for maintaining the integrity of the organisation’s financial systems, managing donor funds, and ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
The Finance Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing robust financial management systems, preparing budgets, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring timely financial reporting. He/she will provide leadership in the management of donor funds, including those from USAID, and ensure adherence to strict financial and accounting standards. The Finance Manager will also play a key role in risk management, financial forecasting, and strategic financial planning to support program objectives.
This position requires technical expertise in financial management, strong leadership, and the ability to manage complex funding streams while maintaining alignment with organisational and donor priorities. The Finance Manager will report operationally to NICDAM management and the Chief of Party and work closely with the NICDAM technical team.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and manage all financial operations, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and donor requirements.
· Develop and maintain financial systems and policies to ensure accuracy, accountability, and compliance with USAID and other donor regulations.
· Oversee the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and donor-specific financial reports.
· Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports to donors and stakeholders.
· Manage grant funds, including USAID funds, ensuring proper allocation, monitoring, and utilisation.
· Conduct financial analysis and provide strategic recommendations to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
· Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and relevant regulations.
· Lead financial risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate financial risks.
· Supervise and mentor finance staff, promoting a culture of accountability and excellence.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Holds a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, financial management, or a related field.
· Has a minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, with at least 3 years managing USAID or other donor-funded projects.
· Demonstrated knowledge of USAID financial management regulations, cost principles, and reporting requirements.
· Proven experience in preparing and managing donor-funded budgets, financial forecasting, and grant management.
· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, SAP) and advanced MS Excel skills.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present financial data clearly and effectively.
· Demonstrated ability to manage teams and build financial capacity within an organisation.
· Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
· Working knowledge of South African financial and tax regulations.
