Our programmes strive to strengthen and develop the skills of people/communities and to promote social behaviour change over the widest possible spectrum, but mainly in the health and social development space.
NICDAM is appointed by USAID to implement the “Children, Adolescents, and Families in the HIV Epidemic in the Free State Province (CAFHE)” in the Thabo Mofutsanyane and Lejweleputswa districts in the Free State province.
NICDAM seeks to appoint: Senior Social Services Manager.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic senior social worker, to oversee the planning, coordination, and monitoring of all social service activities across both districts. S/he will develop and implement service plans, coordinate with staff and stakeholders, monitor progress, and ensure the quality and effectiveness of services delivered. Additionally, they will provide capacity building for local social workers and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
S/he is to lead and oversee the successful delivery of all social services components of the “Children, Adolescents, and Families in the HIV Epidemic (CAFHE) in the Free State Province”. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in driving strategic capacity development, supervision and mentoring of social workers and GBVF Champions and fieldworkers to be appointed in the project, managing and mentoring these cross-functional teams, ensuring government stakeholder alignment and social workforce capacity development. S/he will bring a strong social services perspective, vision, and strategy on achieving the goal and objectives of the project.
This position requires social services technical leadership, planning, and team management skills to ensure the programme is delivered with measurable impact.
The Social Services Manager must report operationally to the NICDAM management and the Chief of Party, have regular communication with the NICDAM management and NICDAM technical team.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation of the social services components of the programme, ensuring alignment with project goals.
· Jointly develop and manage programme roadmaps, timelines, and budgets.
· Identify, assess, and mitigate risks and issues that may impact programme delivery.
· Implement and promote best practices in programme management methodologies.
· Regularly report on programme progress, milestones, and outcomes.
· Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement within the programme team.
· Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Holds a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and hold a current registration
· with the SACSSP.
· Has a minimum of 5 years of experience as a social worker, including experience in training, mentoring and providing supportive supervision of social service practitioners.
· Has a minimum of 2 years of experience in management of a PEPFAR-funded activity.
· Demonstrated working knowledge of PEPFAR Technical Guidance for OVC and HIV Prevention.
· Demonstrated ability to develop and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including NGO partners and Government Institutions of South Africa at all levels. Demonstrated written, presentation, communication, and organizational skills in English.
