The Role
O&M Systems Expert – Qatar CLIENT Linum Consult’s client is a major company operating out of the Middle East. They are currently seeking an Operations and Maintenance Expert with a background in the systems of large-scale light rail projects to join their team in Qatar. RESPONSIBILITIES • Supporting the Operations & Maintenance team with the investigation, root cause analysis, and failure attribution of safety and maintenance related defects and subsequent engineering solutions to ensure contractual performance and reliability targets are achieved and maintenance practices implemented • Supporting the maintenance practices assessments, ensuring development of maintenance strategies for planning, execution, and management of maintenance functions and assets’ performance are in line with the company’s strategic asset management plan • Leading the integration investigations and failure attributions of rolling stock, systems, signalling, communication, PSD, SCADA, and power systems within metro and tram projects • Applying engineering principles and providing solutions to engineering problems • Providing technical guidance on modern rail technologies such as CBTC and advanced tram/train control solutions and preparing detailed reports and technical documents on project status, technical findings, and system performance analyses • Identifying and implementing strategies to maximise system safety, reliability, availability, and maintainability. Developing and implementing maintenance Asset Maintenance Plans, Maintenance Planning Tables, and strategies to enhance System durability, efficient operations, minimise disruptions, and extend service life

Requirements

• Degree qualification in Systems, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or similar, ideally with a masters and a membership to a relevant professional engineering association • Around 10 years’ experience in the rail industry, particularly metro and tram systems • Demonstrable background in systems engineering, project management, and integration within complex transit projects • Experience in system maintenance, construction, and design for metro and tram systems • Expert knowledge of rail safety standards and industry regulations • Thorough understanding of rail systems basics such as driverless trains, signalling systems, traction power supply distribution, track, control, and communication systems, tunnel ventilation systems, and E&M systems, their functions and maintenance • Excellent communication, decision-making, and analytical skills • Previous experience in the Middle East would be preferred.
