Expression of Interest: Contract Manager – New Zealand Transport Authority Roading Maintenance

The Contract:

The New Zealand Transport Authority Roading Maintenance Contract is the region's largest and most valued maintenance contract, worth around $1.2 billion annually. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in the region.

About the Role:

As a key member of the Ventia Transport Infrastructure Business, you will manage the maintenance of over 1200 km of unsealed and 400 km of sealed roads. Your responsibilities will include grading, pavement maintenance, drainage, footpaths, and chipsealing, ensuring our roads remain safe and accessible.

You will lead a team of about 40 staff members, working closely with the Renewals and Maintenance Managers. Your strong leadership and people skills will be crucial as you mentor and support your team to deliver exceptional results. Effective stakeholder management will also be essential, ensuring collaboration with various subcontractors and stakeholders.

An Opportunity for a Business Manager:

This role is ideal for a business manager with strong commercial skills and the ability to lead and develop an operations team. As the lead on one of our most important contracts in our Transport Infrastructure portfolio, you will provide maintenance services to a major asset owner in the roading industry.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced roads maintenance professional to take ownership of this relationship and continue building a strong, sustainable business in New Zealand from a solid established platform.

Working closely with our client representatives, you will be responsible for delivering our contractual obligations, achieving targeted annual revenue, and ensuring that resources are deployed to maximize productivity.

Skills and Experience:

Proven experience in leading and driving the performance of both office and field-based teams as well as external consultants.
Significant contract management experience on maintenance contracts in the roads industry.
Proven experience and ability in the management of cost and revenue.
Strong leadership capabilities and the ability to develop your team through coaching and mentoring.
Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), NZCE qualifications or equivalent is an advantage.
Familiarity with HSE practices within the roads construction and maintenance industry.
A collaborative approach to contract management and experience in relationship-style contracting.
Intermediate to advanced computer literacy.
