Introduction

We are seeking a Head of Sustainability to join Metso! In this role, you will lead the development and execution of Metso’s Sustainability strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate goals, compliance, and stakeholder expectations. In your role, there is a high focus on customer engagement as well as participation in key industry sustainability forums. In this position, you will report to the Chief Growth Officer.

This position is mainly located in Espoo, but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options.

You will join a team of professionals dedicated to bringing a significant contribution to Metso’s sustainability strategy. In your role, you will drive the collaboration, the way of working and ensure systematic capabilities development for successful strategy execution in Metso. What you’ll do

Demonstrate thought leadership, sustainability strategy, customer centricity and sustainability across all business operations.
Drive strategic activities to address sustainability initiatives and ensure these align and support Metso’s overall business growth by integrating ESG principles into core business operations, investment decisions, and stakeholder engagements
Develop methodologies to assess the viability, progress, and success of all sustainability initiatives (new and existing), identify best practices and projects/themes with the greatest potential
Engage with senior leadership, providing insights on Sustainability risks and opportunities for business continuity and growth.
Oversee sustainability strategy, ensuring compliance with regulations, while promoting employee engagement and awareness through health and safety initiatives, training, and accountability.
Responsible for sustainability reporting, as well as setting standards and sustainability KPIs for Metso in alignment with Metso’s growth strategy and investors' and customers’ expectations
Proactively monitor and adapt to new ESG trends, risks, and opportunities to ensure the company remains a leader in the field

Who you are

Extensive experience in the field of sustainability and ESG initiatives preferably in the heavy industry
Proven track record of driving thought leadership and engaging with key stakeholders.
Experience in developing and implementing sustainability strategies and initiatives.
Proficiency in sustainability reporting and setting sustainability KPIs.
Strong analytical skills to assess the viability and success of sustainability initiatives.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders, including leading and coordinating initiatives in a large matrix organization.
