Our client in the government sector seeks a Senior Accountant to be based out of their office in Melbourne CBD

As a Senior Accountant, you'll play a pivotal role in providing financial oversight and expert advice to support organisational decision-making. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll ensure compliance with accounting standards, legislative requirements, and the Victorian Government's Financial Management Compliance Framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead financial reporting activities, including annual and mid-year reports.
- Maintain general and subsidiary ledgers, overseeing accruals, prepayments, and cost allocations.
- Ensure tax compliance, including preparing and lodging GST and FBT returns.
- Provide financial insights to inform strategic decision-making.
- Support a positive team culture aligned with EPA values.
- Represent the organisation positively, building strong partnerships with stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
- CPA, CA, or equivalent professional accreditation would be advantageous.
- Significant experience in financial accounting, preferably in the government sector.
- Proficiency in Technology One and knowledge of the Financial Management Act 1994 preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, fostering collaboration across teams.
