While this role supports the AAD which is located in Hobart, TAS, this recruitment activity may be used to support other divisions within the department.

The Financial Management Branch is responsible for the ongoing financial management and performance of DCCEEW. It supports business areas to manage their budget and finances effectively through timely and accurate advice and analysis to assist the department in making decisions. The branch provides strategic expert financial advice and delivers financial support across the department through a network of finance managers, delivers systems and change support, prepares financial statements, undertakes assets management and ensures taxation compliance.
The Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) Procurement Unit sits within the Procurement and Capital Management Team. They support the division in undertaking large and complex procurement processes and work cohesively with the department’s central procurement unit that maintains the overall procurement policy framework. The Procurement Unit is also responsible for developing fit for purpose procurement procedures and the provision of quality and timely advice regarding procurement and contract management of a wide range of goods and services conducted in support of Australia's Antarctic Program.
The Job
Key duties may include:
- Assisting with a range of procurement activities including ensuring they are planned and undertaken in line with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules.
- Working with the team and key stakeholders to plan and deliver the procurement deliverables.
- Assisting in the guidance, training and support to help line areas work with and through procurement processes.
- Assisting with the evaluation of incoming project proposals and procurement activities.
- Taking initiative to progress work to meet stakeholder expectations and requirements.
- Gaining an understanding of procurement and its broader impacts and implications.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders (including suppliers) on procurement activities.
Knowledge and experience

- Can proactively build and sustain productive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Enjoy working in a diverse and cohesive integrated team focused on delivering quality outcomes.
- Experience in a client engagement and/or a customer service environment.
- An inquisitive, collaborate and analytic approach to troubleshooting and problem solving. While experience in procurement may be beneficial, we are looking for individuals with the right attitude and a willingness to learn.
Desirable experience
- Experience in procurement in Government.
Citizenship - To be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.
Security Clearance - This position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
Pre-employment Check - Your suitability for employment will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This process includes a requirement to undergo and satisfy a National Police Check, referee checks, character clearance and where required a pre-employment medical assessment, specified mandatory qualification(s) validation and a probation period of 6 months.
