About the role:
Occupational Therapist and Speech Pathologists are integral members of the multidisciplinary Brighter Beginnings team. Their responsibilities include conducting health and development checks at preschools and offering advice and support to parents, carers, and early childhood staff. They will also collaborate with early childhood education centres, health providers, and other external stakeholders to ensure that Brighter Beginnings services are efficient, proactive, and well-coordinated. Additionally, this role requires travel within the Local Health District (LHD) to deliver health and development checks in designated areas.

The role will be supported in the role by the Brighter Beginnings Health & Development Checks team including senior allied health clinicians (Speech Pathology and/or Occupational Therapy), Program Coordinator, Service Manager, and Administration Officers.

Where you’ll be working:
As part of the First 2000 Days Framework, NSW Health and the NSW Department of Education are collaborating to make health and development checks available to all children in the year before they attend school.
Brighter Beginnings HD&C is a community-based team with a district-wide scope under Children Young People & Families Health Services. Applications are welcomed from qualified Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists in the Tamworth or Armidale areas.

Requirements:
Our successful candidate will possess the following:
  • Must hold a tertiary qualification (Occupational Therapy or Speech Pathology) and current registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Full NSW Driver’s License and willingness to travel for work purposes, which may involve driving long distances.
