The Role
As the Quality Assurance Officer, you will play a critical role in developing a strategically aligned divisional-level Governance and Assurance Framework. This framework will encompass various streams of work, including risk, quality, assurance, governance and supporting roles, to align with the organisational strategic objectives. By integrating these streams, you will design and refine standardised, simplified, and purpose-fit business processes that are both interdependent and complementary.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the implementation of Governance, Assurance and Risk plans and activities to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 31000 standards.
• Staying informed about best practices in governance and assurance, applying this knowledge to drive continuous improvement initiatives across the Program Office, Branch and Division.
• Monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of governance and assurance activities, identifying opportunities for improvement, and developing effective communications across the division.
• Representing the Program Office, MARSPT Branch and Maritime Sustainment Division (MSD) Division professionally, ensuring clear communication and high-level engagement with all business units.

About our Team
The Maritime Support Branch (MARSPT) delivers Cross Class, Integrated, through-life maritime support to ensure the effective delivery of Maritime Sustainment. This work directly supports the Navy’s mission to maintain Naval Power, enabling the joint force to operate effectively in both peace and war. The Branch comprises a Program Office, three Directorates, and one System Program Office.

This role sits within the MARSPT Program Office, which focuses on delivering program support activities to the Branch and the wider MSD. The team operates across multiple locations, including Sydney, Canberra, Cairns, and Perth, and consists of APS, ADF, Reservists and Contracted personal.

We are looking for a motivated professional with proven experience in quality assurance and audit management who thrives working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to work autonomously under localised or remote supervision.

You will possess the ability to quickly assimilate new information, so as to develop a comprehensive understanding of the MSD strategy and to effectively collaborate across the Division, providing well-researched and strategic advice and support.

With a focus on achieving business outcomes, you will excel in an agile environment, working independently to deliver timely results. Your adaptability will enable you to meet evolving challenges in a dynamic and responsive setting.

You will be expected to work onsite within an MSD Business Unit location across Australia. Locations include Sydney - NSW, Canberra - ACT, Cairns - QLD, Darwin - NT, and Henderson - WA.

As MSD is presently undergoing significant change, flexibility and patience will be essential during this organisational transition. This position will evolve over time to align with the new MSD structure. Please note that adjustments to reporting lines may occur, and being adaptable to these changes will be essential.
