Position Summary:
The Warehouse Clerk is responsible for clerical duties related to shipping and receiving activities. This position performs administrative tasks in addition to Material Handler responsibilities.
Position Responsibilities:
· Contact carriers and schedule shipping orders going out
· Process orders based on customers preferred shipping system (ups, Fed Ex-express)
· Track inventory and report any shortage to sales team
· Responsible for scheduling receiving and shipping appointments
· Adage Crystal Report and receive data into system
· Create warehouse transfers, stock transfers and shipping documents
· Print daily shipping orders
· Communicate with customer service and supply chain departments
· Answering phones and updating records
· Troubleshoots shipping issues – (problem solving)
· Update supplies as needed
· Process the returns of raw ingredients by Purchasing and (RMA’s) FG’s by Customer Service into the WMS
· Record keeping of documents to have available for review based on Smithfield’s procedures pertaining any outside auditing
· Generating monthly department reports
· Weekly inventory of all non-stock items for Purchasing
· Check and verification of all Cintas supplies before secured in packaging cage
· Load and unload trailers when necessary
· Safely and efficiently utilize warehouse material handling equipment
· Utilize RF units and pick tickets, and receiving documentation
· Build stable, well-built and accurate pallet loads for shipment
· Ensure item pick accuracy and safety of product to prevent damage
· Understand pallet layers, heights, and counting methods used when working with pallets of product
· Read and understand product descriptions, packaging and pick ticket messages
· Consistently meet established company production and service level standards
· Utilize good housekeeping processes and effective food safety measures
· Utilize warehouse processes to minimize damage and other areas of waste
· Inform supervisor of any differences in case quantity and/or product description
· Wrap the pallet by circling load with roll of plastic wrap until secure
· Housekeeping during and at the end of shifts

Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills:

· High school diploma or or general education degree (GED) preferred
· MS Office Literate, Word, Power Point, Excel
· Must be DOT Certified; the company may be able to provide
· Previous experience in a warehouse or with heavy lifting preferred
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds continually during shift
· Ability to consistently meet minimum production standards and company service levels
· Must obtain proper powered industrial truck certifications during initial training phase
· Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions
· Ability to operate pallet jack and other required materials handling equipment (MHE)
· Must be able to build full pallets orders with bags or boxes that can weigh up to 50lbs
· Must be able to use scanning equipment because all warehouse items are bar coded
· Must be able to operate or be willing to learn to operate the stand-up and sit-down equipment in the warehouse
· Must be able to work overtime as needed
· Must have good communication skills, (bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus)
· Must be able to work well independently and with the rest of the team

The warehouse environment will include varying temperatures based on season, working near moving mechanical equipment such as forklifts/hi-lifts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.
Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the loading area. The individual may be required to be in the plant environment as well.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $52,000.00 per hour
