Job overview
Co-op North Manchester has five provisions to support pupils with additional needs. It has:
- A SEND Hub for pupils with Cognition & Learning, Communication & Interaction, SEMH and sensory/physical needs. This is a space where pupils access interventions and are supported with their curriculum in the mainstream classroom
- KS3 provisions for both Y7, 8 and 9 - these are for pupils with primarily Cognition & Learning needs
- A KS4 Pathways provision for pupils in Yrs 10 and 11 with primarily SEMH needs
In addition, we also work with agencies such as Barnados to support those with SEMH and other needs to reintegrate back into education and we are part of partnerships and projects funded by the LA such as the Manchester Safer Youth Violence Taskforce which works with KS3 pupils at risk of CCE/CSE before they become vulnerable to ‘pushes and pulls’. We also work in partnership with MUFC to access mentoring, coaching, leadership development and volunteering opportunities.
We have regularly updates and training around PACES and have a really committed pastoral leadership who also support pupils in out Pathways provisions
It is an exciting time to be joining Pathways as it is moving into a new phase with the extension of a Y9 provision and reintegration model. The postholder must be committed to excellent educational provision to the pupils educated within it. The postholder must promote and embed the vision and values of the academy and those of the Trust throughout KS4 Pathways Centre.
The postholder will work alongside other members of the leadership team to design an effective curriculum for the KS4 centre which will enable all pupils to achieve the academy’s vision. A strong emphasis on personal development will be at the heart of the curriculum offer, and through working with the SENCO, any additional needs of the learners will also be met.
Co-op North Manchester invests considerably in supporting pupils with additional needs and has a SENDCo, a Deputy SENDCo and an Assistant Deputy SENDCo, it is overseen by a Vice Principal for Inclusion and PD with our own Educational Psychologist, SALT, Drama and Art therapists.
