Spectrum Group - IT Manager Role and Person Specification
Overview
This is very much a hands-on role and requires the applicant to not only manage but deliver all aspects of IT and networking support. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in systems engineering, project management, and network support. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our IT systems are efficient, secure, and aligned with the organisation's goals.
Responsibilities

• Maintain the IT/networking environment of the Spectrum Group ensuring that performance, security and availability meet the needs of the business
• Work proactively with department heads and directors to further develop the IT/Networking environment to ensure that the business can meet its new business growth goals as they arise
• Work proactively to improve IT service delivery and maintain a forward vision of where the IT department can add further value to the business
• Document and maintain diagrams of IT systems and networking
• Maintain an IT asset register
• Produce an IT business resumption/disaster recovery plan and where needed implement/develop systems to meet the requirements
• Take a pragmatic and intelligent approach to IT equipment purchasing with a manufacturer and solution agnostic approach
• Manage, develop and mentor IT department staff

Required Skills

• Self-sufficient, able to operate as the last person in the chain in technical situations
• Have experience of architecting solutions and managing projects
• Customer focused and able to actively identify user/business needs
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems (server and workstation – minimum Server 2016 and Windows 10 & 11)
• Expert knowledge of operating, supporting and managing Microsoft Hyper-V
• Expert networking knowledge
• Expert knowledge of firewalls and security appliances
• Good hardware understanding of high specification PCs
• Practical day-to-day experience of specifying, managing, deploying and configuring server hardware from a major manufacturers such as HP, Dell, IBM, etc
• Practical and business-focused approach to Cyber Security preferably with experience of taking an organisation through Cyber Essentials Plus
• Technically proficient with Active Directory, group policy and all aspects of securely managing a Microsoft Windows Active Directory domain.
• Microsoft 365 administration and management
• Experience in implementing, managing and testing IT backup infrastructure to underpin business continuity and disaster recovery plans

Person Specification

• The ideal candidate will already be a senior IT person and have at least 5 years demonstratable experience of supporting Windows Server and Hyper-V
• The idea candidate will have experience in supporting/managing IT in a multi-site environment
• Confidence to lead IT in a technical and growing organisation
• Comfortable with supporting a highly technical and capable user base
• Able to take control of difficult situations and to take them through to conclusion with minimum external help
• Be prepared to travel to other sites with an overnight stay
• Be prepared to perform some tasks out of hours either remotely or on site
• Able to manage and work effectively with external providers

Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
