Activity Leader

We are a long established English Language School based in Bournemouth city centre, with a reputation for delivering quality education and experiences. We are currently looking for hard-working and responsible individuals to join our team as an Activity Leader from February 2025. If you are high-spirited and wish to build on your leadership skills, this could be the role for you!
Our students come from all over the world to receive an engaging combination of lessons and fun-filled activities. Our programmes include daytime as well as both full-day and half-day trips to stunning local attractions and popular tourist destinations. You will work under the guidance of our Manager, to help organize and implement a high quality social programme of activities and excursions, leading by example.
As an activity leader it will be your responsibility to:
  • Run activities, motivate students to participate and aid in any additional duties as required.
  • Oversee and lead tours of the main sights, providing the students with information for each location.
  • Thoroughly prepare for each activity by planning and preparing for all potential Health & Safety hazards, having all equipment ready and set up for each activity, and knowing all information relevant to the day’s schedule.
  • To read and understand the staff handbook. When on duty, staff are responsible for the care, welfare and safety of students whilst ensuring they are following school rules
  • To assist in airport transfer to welcome and farewell students
Essential Role Requirements
  • High proficiency of English, and the ability to adapt your language to students’ varied maturity and levels of English.
  • Enthusiasm to communicate with children, and give them a positive experience in England.
  • Experience working with children, or aspirations to work with under 18s in a future career
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and have a strong understanding of cultural diversity.
  • Excellent communication skills with our team, the international group leaders and students.
  • Managing large groups of students requires a balance between calm authority and clear communication. We ask for our leaders to lead by example and apply their training through clear expectations, positivity and hard work.
  • A clear DBS check
Desired:
  • Previous summer school experience
  • Qualifications in related subjects (e.g. arts, sports, childcare, teaching)
  • Knowledge and expertise of Bournemouth
  • First aid qualification

Safeguarding Statement
