About the role:
Chief Accountant (Finance Manager) in Ukraine leads and manages the local Finance Team (including US GAAP Management Accounts, Statutory and Tax reporting) ensuring up-to-date and compliant accounting records. Responsible for overseeing all tax affairs, statutory accounting and fiscal issues and ensuring adherence to all local fiscal and corporate regulations. Responsible for company compliance to corporate finance policies and standard reports (including SOX). Responsible for actively supporting Commercial and Operational Departments in their business development, cost reduction and any other projects.
HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:
Overseeing Ukraine financial matters (Accounting, Treasury, Tax and Fiscal)
- Ensures up-to-date and compliant accounting records for both US GAAP and local statutory purposes and that the Ukraine Finance department performs to expected Herbalife standards.
- Ensures that the finance and accounting records and systems are functioning effectively and correctly record the business and position of the Company.
- Provides oversight of tax affairs (direct and indirect), statutory accounting and fiscal issues and ensures adherence to all local fiscal and corporate regulations.
- Ensures that all Financial Statements reports meet local statutory reporting requirements.
- Ensures accurate and timely filing of company tax returns – corporate and income taxes, VAT, social security etc.
- Ensures the company complies with all reporting requirements necessary.
- Develops and maintains good working relationships with all key business partners within Ukraine entity including establishing and managing relationships with internal and external audit
- Works with tax outsource company on tax returns, consults tax matters as necessary.
- Works with external auditors on annual statutory audit
- Monitors distributor compliance with fiscal and legal requirements.
- Works closely with the Country Director to ensure achievement of country financial objectives.
Ensuring that USA / EMEA / Corporate Reporting Deadlines are met for the following Corporate deliverables:
- Monthly Financial Statements, as per Corporate Policy
- Monthly supplementary Financial Reports, as per Corporate requirements
- Balance sheet reconciliations including Inter-co accounts
- Timely responsiveness to Corporate / Regional / local requests for information
Responsibilities relating to Financial Inventory Control of Ukraine inventory:
- Ensures proper controls over inventory are in place.
- Ensures that all accounting obligations for Ukraine inventory are fulfilled.
- Ensures that adequate Inventory reserves, for excess and obsolete inventories, are created and maintained in the accounts, in accordance with Corporate Policy.
Other Financial and Internal Control Responsibilities
- Ensures that the Ukraine entity complies with Sarbanes & Oxley Act (SOX) requirements.
- Assists the EMEA SOX and EMEA ECO teams to ensure Ukraine entity comply to corporate finance policies, internal controls and required standard reports, including all SOX controls.
- Maintains sound accounting policies and procedures for all areas of Business.
- Actively supports Regional Controllership, Country Director and other departments managers with ad-hoc projects.
- Interacts with EMEA Regional Finance, Internal Audit, External Audit and Los Angeles based Corporate Finance, Tax and Treasury departments
- Works with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, tax advisors, fiscal authorities, financial institutions, others.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build strong, positive relationships within Ukrainian organizations and finance team.
- Monitor team performance, identify and resolve issues.
- Manage a team of experienced part qualified and clerical accounting staff (2 Sr Accountants and 4 Accountants).
- Provides leadership, motivation and guidance to the staff.
- To conduct appraisals, training, recruitment and disciplinary issues as they arise. In order to be able to play a clear role in these areas a strong relationship will need to be developed with the Finance team and a good understanding of the strong and weak areas of each individual.
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position
Skills/Education/Experience:
- High education on economics/ finance/ accounting or relevant work experience,
- At least 7-10 years of experience at managerial level within Finance / Accounting in an International/Multi-national company, preferably with a US parent
- Good all round knowledge of local corporate and income taxes, local GAAP and US GAAP,
- Experienced in ERP accounting systems, both use and implementation; proficient with Excel,
- English language (fluent, upper-Intermediate as minimum),
- Knowledge of ORACLE is a plus,
- Very strong supervisory and interpersonal skills, demonstrated leadership skills and a team player,
- Ability to communicate in a professional way with financial institutions, distributors and local staff,
- Ownership, decision making skills,
- Management skills,
- Positive, open minded,
- Participation in Transformation or Systems implementation projects is a plus.
