Radiology Medical Advisor
Main purpose
The Medical Advisor acts as the scientific expert in the Therapeutic Area/s proactively providing training, scientific advice and strategic input to internal and external stakeholders as well as the scientific and medical community in country as well as across the cluster. The position holder shall drive the localisation of the global medical and brand strategy in alignment with cross-functional, cluster, local and regional strategic partners. The incumbent is accountable for scientifically validating materials and developing and contributing to multichannel campaigns and relevant scientific materials for the cluster. The Medical Advisor contributes to the generation of clinical evidence to address information gaps for the products across the life cycle. The Medical Advisor establishes long-term scientific/strategic relationships with key, influential physicians/scientists/stakeholders and with related major medical associations and academic centers of excellence. These relationships will ensure that Thought Leaders (TLs) and organizations have access to relevant scientific information and that pertinent information is shared with the medical community. The Medical Advisor uses his/her experience and knowledge interacting with key external medical and pharmacy professionals through the process of education via one-on-one interaction; small group discussion and symposia lecture presentations including interactions associated with sponsored medical education programs and research protocols. The Medical Advisor facilitates TL involvement in national, regional and local educational forums including advisory boards, symposia and Continuing Medical Education (CMEs).The Medical Advisor also serves as an important partner to internal stakeholders within Bayer by communicating relevant information from TLs to key cross-functional partners within the cluster.
Key tasks & responsibilities
Strategic contribution
- Responsible and accountable for driving the localisation of the global medical and brand strategy, by using local / cluster field insights and partnering with both local / cluster cross-functional teams and regional teams.
- Responsible and accountable for using cross-functional knowledge to create medical multichannel campaigns: including content development, multichannel strategy and the customer journey.
- Responsible and accountable for driving a strategic partnership with local / cluster cross-functional teams.
- Accountable for driving the medical strategy by translating the global, regional, and cluster / local medical plans into implementable TL engagement strategies with cross-functional teams
- Accountable for providing medical support to clinical trial teams on subjects related to interventional clinical trials including feasibility & initiation visits.
- Accountable and responsible for managing study-related medical activities for Interventional Post-Approval Trials (IPAT), Observational Studies (OS) and Investigator Initiated Research (IIR) as required locally or within the cluster.
- Responsible for reviewing and interpreting interaction analytics related to TL engagement and take appropriate actions.
- Responsible and accountable for keeping abreast with latest scientific research on therapeutic area and competitors
- Responsible for fostering strong partnerships across allocated territories and play the role of ‘trusted advisor’ and ‘conductor’ to shape and synergize to reach win-win outcomes
- Responsible and Accountable for identifying the right TLs to engage and maintain a current list with up-to-date segmentations as per global definitions.
- Responsible and Accountable for generating TL insights, document and communicate them to cross-functional teams to inform tactics and strategy
- Responsible and Accountable for implementing TL engagement strategies by building an understanding of Thought Leaders, fostering TL relationships and disseminating customer / patient-centric insights and data, whilst leveraging on various digital and physical channels to engage TLs with focused content
- Accountable for providing scientific contributions to the development and implementation of Bayer organised national, regional, cluster and local medical educational programs (e.g. Continuing Medical Education programs).
- Internal support:
- Responsible and accountable for providing medical support on internal projects across the cluster e.g. pre-launch activities, reimbursement processes, dossier development, commercial campaigns etc.
- Responsible for aligning with internal functions to review Professional Information responsibilities including translations and updates.
- Responsible and accountable for proactively ensuring that Bayer medical activities are in-line with relevant guidelines, regulations and legislations.
- Responsible for providing scientific education and training to cross-functional partners across the cluster (e.g. Sales and Marketing) on product data, therapeutic area knowledge, and clinical operations and clinical development studies.
- Responsible and accountable for scientifically reviewing and approving therapeutic area/product related materials (for in country and / or cluster), external communications (for in country and / or cluster) and advising cross-functionally using medical/scientific expertise.
- Responsible for documenting and processing medical Information queries in alignment with country / cluster Medical Information handling procedures
Experiences / background
- Strong scientific/ medical background.
- Desirable previous experience of being a Medical Scientific Liaison / Medical Scientific Advisor in industry or other Medical Department’s roles.
- Strong skills in managing stakeholders and experienced in building networks.
- Business Acumen displaying ability to operate cross-functionally, driving organizational growth, understanding of marketing/sales functions in pharma industry.
- Desirable experience contributing to an organization’s strategic endeavours, displaying industry/market knowledge.
