Group Sustainability and Environmental Manager

Willowton Group has been in operation since 1970 and has grown to become one of Africa’s leading edible oil processors, as well as one of the leading competitors in the South African FMCG market.
The group operates across South Africa with manufacturing facilities in Pietermaritzburg, Johannesburg, and Cape Town. Willowton Group has recently completed expanding its manufacturing operations into Zambia and Zimbabwe, with aspirations to further extend its reach to customers throughout Africa.
A wide range of products encompasses edible oils, rice, margarines and spreads, beauty, toilet and laundry soaps, candles, baking and industrial fats. Well-known brands include, amongst others, Sunfoil, Sunshine D, D’lite, Crown, Wooden Spoon, and Allsome rice.

Proactive approach to Sustainability, Climate Change and Environmental Compliance. Take full responsibility for compilation of and ESG Reporting.
- Responsible for managing the Groups environmental sustainability practices. Develop plans, implement protocols and manage the organisation's resources to help reduce the impact it may have on the environment.
- Assessing the Group’s current sustainability strategies and protocols to identify where it can reduce its impact on the environment.
- Researching and staying updated on the latest local and global sustainability news, trends and practices
- Developing and maintaining documents for sustainability practices within the Group
- Educating employees on eco-friendly practices and showing them how to improve their awareness of sustainability to reduce environmental impact.
- Continually monitoring the company's sustainability-related data.
- Providing feedback to the executive team on how the organisation is performing from a sustainability and environmental management point of view.
- Public sharing and making sure information pertaining to Sustainability and the Environment are current on the Groups website.
- Drive GHG reduction and Mitigation of Climate Change. Develop Science Based Targets for the Group with the aim of reaching net zero emissions by 2050, if not sooner.
- Be responsible and accountable for Ethical Audits including Sedex 4-Pillar Audits and other Customer requested Audits.
- Conduct and manage Training programs.
- Update and maintain the current Willowton Group Sustainability Program, to meet ever-evolving global requirements.
- Conduct biannual assessments and report findings.
- Assist the Company to comply with Local (PMB, Isando, Maitland and Winterton) and National Regulations (Scope 1-4).
- Ensure the Company maintains Multinationals Sustainability Standards (TT, NDPE, IRF, Human Rights and Regen Agri).
- Administration and Reporting as and when required.
- Develop an Annual Sustainability Report for the Willowton Group that can be shared with all stakeholders.

- Diploma/ Degree Environmental Science or Environmental Management
- 5-10 years of experience within FMCG
