ABOUT THE JOB

As a Java Software Test Engineer, you work in multidisciplinary and self-managing Agile teams. These teams develop and test in an iterative manner Combat Management systems (CMS), applications and subsystem interfaces. Agile / Scrum teams are fully responsible for a variety of aspects such as requirements analysis, architecture, software implementation, testing, validation and regular product demonstrations.

You will take ownership and conduct IVVQ (Integration, Validation, Verification, Qualification) activities throughout the stages of the Fundamental Test Process. These will include:

• Planning, design, management, execution and reporting of tests, using appropriate testing tools and techniques,
• Reviewing test basis and defining test conditions,
• Designing and implementing test cases and test scripts (manual and automated) under own direction, ensuring traceability to test basis, recording and reporting outcomes,
• Setting up, monitoring and maintaining the system under test,
• Executing complex manual and automated test procedures on development and CMS-simulation environments,
• Analyzing and reporting test activities and results.

ABOUT YOU

Do you have a passion for technology and do you like to work on high-tech Naval Command & Control systems? Then you are the person we are looking for.
You are a talented and experienced Software Test Engineer, happy to contribute throughout the SDLC and with a passion for testing complex Java software solutions. You preferably have a completed BSc or Master study in the direction of Computer Science or Computer Technology.

• You have minimum 2 years of recent experience in software testing, with a proven ability to analyze and test complex software systems using various strategies and techniques (i.e. white-box and black-box testing, functional and non-functional testing, exploratory testing, testing across different test levels),
• You have user level knowledge of testing tools and test monitoring and control metrics,
• You have working level knowledge of configuration and test management,
• You have working level knowledge of hardware, networking and operating systems (preferably Linux),
• Formal learning/certification in software testing is a strong advantage (i.e. ISTQB trainings and certifications),
• Knowledge and experience with Java test automation including associated development methods, tooling and frameworks is a strong advantage (i.e. JUnit/Test NG, Cucumber, Spring framework, UI test automation – Selenium, API test automation),
• Knowledge and experience with the following tools and techniques is a strong advantage: build tools – Maven / Gradle, versioning software – GIT and Continuous Integration & Delivery – Jenkins.

With your analytical attitude you know how to detect errors and together with the development teams you analyze these problems. As a person you are creative, open and flexible and you distinguish yourself as an enthusiastic team player. You are able to quickly acquire new domain insights and techniques. In addition, you show initiative, communicate clearly and you feel responsible for the result of the team.
A good understanding of the English language in word and writing is necessary for proper job fulfillment.
