Data & Intelligence Lead - Resident Doctors Support Services

The Data and Intelligence Lead will play a critical role in empowering the Resident Doctors Support Service (RDSS) with actionable insights to improve service delivery, optimise resources, enhance the well-being of Resident Doctors (RMOs) and support the medical pipeline. This role will involve gathering, analysing, and interpreting data to guide strategic planning and decision-making and provide high-impact intelligence to support the mental health, wellness, and professional needs of RMOs.
The Data and Intelligence Lead will develop dashboards, reporting tools, and predictive models to track trends and identify areas for improvement and support medical workforce planning. This role will also work with technology leaders to improve RMO and RMO Unit efficiency, such as a system that supports the allocation of Resident Doctors over time, consistent with their career pathways etc.

Join our Resident Doctors Support Service (RDSS) team where you will have the opportunity to make a difference to the future medical workforce of Health NZ – our RMOs.
Our team is working to achieve the vision for our RMOs – “to support the efficient delivery of a well, well trained medical workforce for today and into the future”. Our small national team is supported with a strong network of local RMO units who deliver support services to the RMOs in our health system.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary level qualification/ or appropriate experience
- Demonstrates willingness, and ability, to build constructive/effective relationships with stakeholders to build a sound understanding of their operational environment and context – minimum of 7 years.
- Proven experience in analytical roles (Ideally 5-10 years)
- Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate data insights to non-technical audiences.
- Experience working strategically and applying critical thinking, as well as sound judgement in the development of options and provision of advice.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
