Mo te tunga | About the role
The purpose of the Performance Data workgroup at NZ Police is to provide the wider organisation with the data and performance insights it needs to be successful.
As a Data Response Analyst you'll join a team producing reliable and accurate data and reporting by responding to internal and external data requests.
You'll be developing one-off reports and maintaining regular reporting products for internal customers, producing Ministerial and official correspondence, responses to parliamentary questions, and other information requests (OIAs). You will also be responsible for the publication of official statistics and updating policedata.nz.
To be successful in this role you will have a strong understanding of the Official Information and Privacy Acts, and a technical background in quantitative data, reporting and response preparation.
Attention to detail is important to ensure that Police meets expectations for open and transparent data. Your efforts will ensure that Police meets its obligation to our communities, and that decision makers are informed of current data trends and statistics.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop, test and maintain data-extracts and reporting tools to produce information for business users and other users of Police data.
- Provide up-to date expert advice and assistance to Police staff at all levels as it relates to Police data.
- Prepare responses to Parliamentary Questions, Official Information Act and other requests for data
- Prepare statistical information to support Police corporate accountability reporting (e.g. SSP, SOI, Annual Report, etc.).

To be successful in this role you will require the following:
- Excellent customer responsiveness and a focus on ensuring service requests are met with a professional, customer-focused and timely responses.
- Have proven experience and ability to understand (or gain understanding) of Police data and tools.
- Experience using a range of business intelligence, data extraction, and data visualisation tools is an advantage, such as Business Objects SAS, SQL, Arc GIS, Power BI, Tableau.
- Knowledge and capability to ensure the interpretation and application of legislative requirements.
- Strong written communication and attention to detail is essential, particularly in a busy, complex environment.
- Ability to self-manage, plan and prioritise responsibilities and day-to-day deliverables.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to develop sound solutions in complex and ambiguous situations.

- This role is based at Police National Headquarters, Wellington. Remote working is not available for this role.
- Applicants shortlisted for progression to interview will be provided with a basic data analysis and presentation task. Following interviews, the preferred applicant(s) will undergo further assessments in Excel proficiency and problem solving ability.
This role is set at Individual Contributor level, this means your key purpose is "to deliver or enable others to deliver Our Business".

Utu a-tau | Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $87,306 and $91,353 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
