About the role
Ward 4A is a 24 bed General Surgery ward, with an additional six bed High Dependency Unit attached. Ward 4A specializes in upper & lower GI and colorectal Surgery and provides for both elective and acute surgical admissions.
This role will see you primarily focusing your attention to the overall needs of the service. This is a varied role within a clinical environment, and you will need to be able to take instruction and direction from the nurses on the ward, whilst having a helpful and team focused approach to making a difference to the environment, and care provided to the patients under our care.
As a Health Care Assistant, you will be involved in the following:

• Supporting our nurses and other members of the health care team
• Patient supervision and/or movement
• Patient cares, as required
• Stock reconciliation
• Ward maintenance
• Patient watch, with one-on-one care as required

About you

• Must already hold working rights as this role does not qualify for a work visa

• Experience working with people in a caring capacity is also essential, whether than experience is gained from within a professional environment, or from caring for children or family members. All roles include rostered rotating shifts 24/7 - incl. night shifts
• Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
• Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings

Salary range
This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the expired NZNO CEA and the salary will be in accordance with the HCA Pay Scale, between $60,100 and $70,358 p.a pro rata dependent on relevant experience.
