We have the opportunity available to join our team as Clinical Nurse Manager public health based in Canterbury / South Canterbury. This permanent, part-time (0.8FTE) role provides leadership to a team of Public Health Nurses (PHN) and related roles that is informed by clinical expertise, and knowledge of population health models, theory and principles.
In conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team the Clinical Nurse Manager leads a collaborative, interdisciplinary team dedicated to improving, promoting and protecting public health. Management of the team is a key function of this role including monitoring and driving service delivery.
This role is an integral part of the senior nursing team, contributing to and supporting programmes of transformational change and service integration.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. About you
You'll be able to work collaboratively across the sector and organisational boundaries to influence the nursing contribution to better outcomes for our whānau and communities. You will be an experienced Senior Registered Nurse with proven expert nursing knowledge and skills to provide support to lead a team.
Skills and Experience
  • Registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Proficient PDRP portfolio or equivalent and commitment to ongoing development
  • At least five years' post-graduate nursing experience
  • Proven previous senior leadership experience would be beneficial
  • Relevant post-graduate qualification or be working towards one
  • A current full driver's license
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the areas of public health nursing, primary care and/or community nursing
  • Authorised vaccinator (or willingness to complete)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with health professionals and as an autonomous practitioner
  • Excellent clinical assessment skills and role model for contemporary clinical practice
  • Emotional intelligence and ability to work in complex and stressful environments, with a wide range of diverse stakeholders
  • Proficient computer literacy including Microsoft packages
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings desired
