About the post:
Surgical Affairs at RCSI is the division of the College responsible for the delivery of postgraduate surgical and emergency medicine training, education and assessment in Ireland and overseas, as well as leading RCSI initiatives in the fields of continual professional development, professional competence and surgical practice.

Surgical Affairs are currently seeking a CPD Administrator for the Education & Learning unit, to support the development of Continuous Professional Development in the international market and support internal faculty to ensure all current and future academic modules are approved for standalone professional certificate.
Job Responsibilities
  • Support CPD Manager and Faculty Leads in the development of online and face to face offering of CPD Programmes in Surgery and Emergency Medicine and ensuring the programme is carried out efficiently and effectively
  • Support the delivery of courses locally and internationally
  • Consult and engage with relevant stakeholders and subject matter expects to identify opportunities for the development of Surgical Affairs
  • To provide administration and secretarial with key stakeholders; Faculty lead, faculty members and NCHDs
  • Handling enquiries, applications, preparing documents and reports as applicable
  • Reporting as per RCSI, NDTP and other stakeholder requirements
  • To co- ordinate and arrange NCHD programme calendar
  • To co-ordinate and support face to face and online courses (as applicable)
  • To organise, attend and minute meetings
  • Proactively resolving any problems that may arise to ensure the smooth running of Programme
  • Liaising with the Communications in relation to booking meeting rooms, venues and running events
  • To provide secretarial support to the Professional Competence Manager including cover during annual leave
  • Undergoing programmes of training and development as may be required from time to time
  • Representing the best interests of the Department and RCSI at all times
  • Complying with statutory legislation and department rules and requirements in furtherance of your own and general staff welfare and safety
  • Performing other duties within the department as may be required from time to time
Knowledge & Experience:
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to prioritise
  • An effective communication style appropriate to audience and situation
  • The ability to deal effectively with sensitive / personal information appropriately and sensitively
  • The ability to work on own initiative as well as in a team environment
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours on occasion.
  • Experience and a proven track record in a similar role would be an advantage
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite
  • Familiar with key databases within the department such as Quercus, Moodle, CRM, Qpulse, Qpercom, Arlo
  • Flexibility around working hours in response to the demands of the role
