Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic Academic Specialist to join the Institute for Study Abroad in Prague and play a pivotal role, not only in building our business partnership network, but also in creating professional opportunities for our students and mentoring them through the company projects.
As Academic Specialist, you will be responsible growing our network of business and academic partners, while creating opportunities for our students to complete internships and challenge projects with these partners. The Academic Specialist will also collaborate closely with course lecturers, IT course instructors, and the Academic Manager to mentor and guide students through the challenge project. The challenge projects are a unique opportunity for students to address real-world tech and business issues within the context of the Leadership Course. This role will involve fostering effective communication with partner organizations, networking and developing opportunities, teamwork, promoting inclusive leadership, encouraging reflective practice, and facilitating clear communication among students and partner companies.
The Project and Communications Specialist will work closely with all members of the local team, as well as with colleagues from Academic Affairs.

In this position, your responsibilities would include:
- Develop new partnerships with local and international companies around student projects and internships.
- Nurture current partnerships to create student opportunities through developing internships and challenge projects.
- Lead and coach students in teams of four or five to ensure the successful completion of the challenge project.
- Manage the challenge project during the semester and mentor the student teams in effective, efficient, and professional communication with the partner organization.
- Meet with individual student teams at the IFSA campus weekly to monitor student team progress and provide valuable feedback to students.
- Serve as a coordinator between project partner organization mentors and the student team and facilitate the student team discussions/online calls, in-person meetings, and other forms of communication via email.
- Emphasize effective teamwork, inclusive leadership, reflective practice, and clear communication throughout the project.
- Support and develop the overall academic mission of Academic Affairs, IFSA Czech Republic, and the Tech Career Accelerator.
- Other duties and projects, as assigned.

Requirements, Work Experience and Education
- Background in business development, networking, teaching/mentoring/coaching, communications, project management, or a related field.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and experience establishing and maintaining institutional relationships
- Experience working in a tech-related field is a big plus.
- Excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration between students and partner companies. Czech language skills are important.
- Ability to assess projects using a comprehensive rubric, focusing on teamwork, inclusive leadership, reflective practice, and effective communications.
- Legal authorization to work in the Czech Republic, physically reside in Prague.

Physical and Work Environment
- Working on a computer, placing phone/video calls, creating and editing documents.
- Required to walk, sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Travel around the city of Prague required.
- Occasional physical activities such as lifting boxes of 5-10 kilos, arranging chairs/tables in conference room settings.
