ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Commercial Mortgage Funder will effectively and efficiently review commercial legal documentation and fund mortgage deals, providing a high level of customer service to HTC customers and their solicitors in accordance with company policies and procedures.
In addition:
- Review Letters of Intent and Commitment Letters in order to assess what legal documents will be expected from Solicitors and/or third-party Servicers to close
- Follow up to ensure legal documents are received and reviewed for accuracy and enforceability prior to scheduled closing dates
- Review Corporate documents to determine Beneficial Ownership and to ensure AML documentation meets FINTRAC requirements
- Demonstrate a good understanding of the structure and requirements associated with Publicly Traded Companies, Family Trusts, Partnerships, Third Party Determination and Politically Exposed Persons
- Prepare Mortgage Advances and ensure all advances are processed in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Process construction draw and reserve payments
- Ensure all funded deals are accurate and complete
- Review documents for Assumptions and internal organizational changes
- Demonstrate knowledge of Securitization /CMB program
- Identify and recommend methods to improve operating efficiencies within the team
- Be cross trained to be able to cover and support Residential Mortgage Funders on an as needed basis
- Ensure Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Client legislation is adhered to on all files
- Accountable for all mortgage transactions as assigned
- Display a commitment to the highest customer service ranking in the industry
- Provide daily pipeline updates and maintain ongoing communication with internal stakeholders
- Work closely with Commercial Underwriters to understand transactions and mitigate any potential funding delays
- Maintain open lines of communication with the Solicitor and/or third-party Servicer to ensure service standards are attained
WHAT WE REQUIRE:
- Authorized to work in Canada
- Great communication skills
- Post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in business management, finance, or related field (university an asset)

2 years of experience with commercial funding
- Strong understanding of mortgage lending / commercial mortgages
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Solution-focused, takes initiative to work effectively within established guidelines
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, detail orientation
- Able to source and interpret complex data and drive fact-based analysis
- Strong interpersonal, relationship-building and listening skills
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Able to multi-task and flourish in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment
- Strong MS Office skills and an aptitude for learning new systems and processes
- Flexibility to work some extra hours at peak volume times, as needed
