The research engineer will contribute, using their expertise in functional safety, to developing new system architectures, processes, and test procedures for automated functionalities in complex vehicle systems and machinery across a wide range of industry partners.
Key Responsibilities

• Performing safety analyses from conception to execution, adhering to relevant standards.
• Designing tests to ensure functional safety.
• Influencing the architecture design.
• Leading and collaborating within the research team.
• Training and sharing knowledge with junior team members.
• Defining functional safety (research and B2B) projects or work packages in collaboration with companies and other researchers.

Location: Flemish Region, Belgium
Candidate Requirement

• Master’s or Ph D in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Functional Safety, Automotive, etc.).
• A demonstrated connection between the candidate’s track record and customer’s research domains, evidenced by at least one relevant project in their academic or professional career.
• Clear motivation and strong interest in the proposed assignment.
• A research-oriented mindset focused on technology and results for leading industries.
• Professional communication skills in Dutch and English, both written and verbal.
• Experience in mentoring and collaborating with junior colleagues.
