Are you passionate about sustainability and eager to lead initiatives that make a tangible difference? Mackay Regional Council is seeking a proactive and skilled Sustainability Officer to review and implement our Environmental Sustainability Strategy.


About this opportunity:
As a Sustainability Officer, you will work collaboratively across the organisation, under general direction, to

• Deliver key actions from the Environmental Sustainability Strategy.
• Drive sustainability initiatives, such as emissions reduction, reef guardian council actions, fleet transition and energy management.
• Provide expert advice to teams and support working groups in achieving organisational sustainability goals
• Foster collaboration with stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
We’re looking for someone with the right mix of qualifications, experience, and skills, including:

• Formal qualifications in environmental science, planning, engineering, sustainability, or a related discipline.
• Experience in sustainability, natural environment or energy and carbon management, with experience in policy development and project delivery
• Strong skills in developing business cases and delivering corporatesustainability projects
• Excellent interpersonal abilities to build trust, facilitate collaboration, and drive engagement with diverse stakeholders.
