The PALM scheme Community Connections program delivers on the Australian Government's commitment to PALM scheme worker welfare, wellbeing, and social inclusion in Australia. Community Connections builds positive relationships between PALM scheme workers and their local communities, helping workers settle into life and work in Australia. The Salvation Army and its partner networks engage with local community stakeholders, PALM scheme employers, and workers to plan events and activities for workers and communities to come together through social, cultural, faith[1]based, sporting, and other activities.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Regional Coordinator, at our Adelaide location. Reporting to the National Coordinator - Community Connection, this is a fixed-term, full-time position
Occasional regional travel required. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award, level 4.
You will successfully
-
Identify and engage with local Pacific and Timorese community groups and other stakeholders to support the welfare of workers by connecting them with their local communities through social, cultural and sporting events and health and religious services held outside of working hours:

Prepare in advance, and communicate to local Pacific and Timorese community groups, a quarterly schedule of events and engagement activities to promote social cohesion in local pacific and Timorese community group

Provide scheduled engagement with relevant local Pacific and Timorese community groups including activities to raise awareness and understanding of the PALM scheme with an aim of supporting the welfare and wellbeing of workers and growing genuine people-to-people connections;

Promote social cohesion between workers and their local communities, including by raising cross-cultural awareness amongst local Pacific and Timorese community groups and other stakeholders and promoting the events and activities;

In consultation with approved employers, identify, invite, and arrange for the attendance of, representatives of local Pacific and Timorese community groups arrival briefing
You will have (Requisite Skills & Qualifications)
-
Bachelor's degree community development or a related field or demonstrated equivalent relevant experience, knowledge, and skills.

Studies or demonstrated relevant experience in project management and/or community and stakeholder engagement.

Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in dealing with diverse stakeholders in complex situations.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines.
-
Ability to prepare, check and edit documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
-
Intermediate ability with document preparation, customer relations management platforms, e-mail, and web browser
-
Experience working with people of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Pacific Islander, South Sea Islander or Timorese background preferred

Valid Drivers License
