Queensland’s Role in Quantum’s Australia’s National Initiative
Queensland plays a pivotal role in Quantum Australia, a new national centre to drive quantum innovation and collaboration. As establishment partners, Griffith University and The University of Queensland are leading the Queensland Node of Quantum Australia, with key roles based at both institutions.
Established in May 2024 with significant federal funding, Quantum Australia brings together research institutions, industry partners, and quantum companies to grow the Australian quantum industry. The initiative fosters collaboration between industry, research, and government, promotes the development and commercialisation of quantum and advanced technologies and raises awareness of the potential impact of quantum and advanced technologies across various sectors.

Job Description
The Manager, Partnerships Development (Quantum) position for the Queensland Node of Quantum Australia, based at Griffith University, will play a pivotal role in fostering strategic partnerships across key sectors such as Resources, Agriculture, Transport, Defence, Financial, Medical, Advanced Technologies, and Energy. You will lead efforts to deepen industry, government, and academic engagement, helping to grow Australia’s quantum research and development capabilities and ecosystem.
The role involves identifying partnerships, securing research funding, attracting investment opportunities and promoting quantum technologies at key events. You will work closely with other members of the Queensland node, advise the Node Lead Quantum Australia’s CEO, manage stakeholder relationships, and develop strategic business cases, playing a crucial part in fostering collaboration and advancing quantum technology in Australia.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Identify and secure partnerships, research funding and investment opportunities for the Qld node of Quantum Australia.
- Work with other members of the Qld node of Quantum Australia to provide strategic advice and support to the Node Lead and Quantum Australia’s CEO.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and develop business cases to drive quantum technology collaboration and growth.
- Initiate, facilitate and support stakeholder events in Qld focused on Quantum and enabling technologies.
- Represent Quantum Australia at key meetings and events within Qld and nationally, promoting quantum technologies and building industry, government, and academic connections.
- Extensive experience in business development or relationship management within the quantum and/or advanced technology sector or related industries such as IT, finance, or education.
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills, enabling the development of strategic business cases and effective identification of partnership opportunities.
- Ability to thrive in collaborative environments, fostering relationships and driving mutual benefits among industry, academia, and government partners.
- Understanding of current trends and technical competency in quantum technology, with the capacity to leverage this knowledge to inform decision-making and strategy development.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and effectively manage time to prioritise tasks.
- Self-starter with the ability to work as part or team and also autonomously.
This position is a full-time fixed-term until March 2027. You will primarily be based at the Griffith University Nathan or Gold Coast campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.
Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 9 range $129,419 - $134,047 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $151,420 - $156,834 per annum.
