Senior Research Assistant (Action Trial III), Paediatrics and Child Health

The University currently has teaching sites in Pakistan, East Africa, the United Kingdom, and Afghanistan, and is a major component of Aga Khan Development Network.
The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

The Aga Khan University invites applications for the grant-funded contractual position of Senior Research Assistant in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible to:
- Monitor clinically examine and follow study new born and provide support in their clinical care in collaboration with hospital staff
- assist the physician in adequate airway management to include oxygen therapy,nebulizationand sunctioning include mechanical ventilation and CPAP based on physician order
- provide safety environment for patient through adherence to infection control practice and other safety policy and perform timely safety checks on incubators, IV pumps, oxygen source, ventilator, cardiace monitor and glucometer
- administration to study treatment through intramuscular route following safe injection practise to enrolled pregnant females
- able to do shif duties (Morning, Evening and night) and remain flexible in working at all AKU secondary hospital
Requirements
You should have:
- Midwifery or Registered Nurse
- 1 to 2 years of Neonatology and Obstetric Care experience
- ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively
- sensitivity to cultural differences
- ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively
- ability to be an excellent team player
- good communication and interpersonal skills
- resilience and ability to cope with work pressure
- willingness to work in the communities/field sites
- good Computer and Report Writing Skills
