Position: Production Technician- Sewing
Job Location: West Valley City, UT
Job Type: Full-Time
Status: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Day Shift, M-F
This position is responsible for utilizing industrial sewing machines to fabricate vinyl curtains, cushions, and tarps.
Responsibilities

• Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures.
• Industrial sewing fabrication - assemble heavy duty vinyl tarps and silicone coated fiberglass per instructions using a single/double needle sewing machine
• Must be able to meet deadlines while maintaining company standards of quality and workmanship
• Assembles products to company, customer and manufacturer’s standards
• Performs all product testing to quality standards as required by the customer and per company work instruction
• Receives incoming shipments into inventory, posts in online system and places items in warehouse.
• Picks product in warehouse and prepares items for delivery or shipping
• Operates mechanical equipment, hand tools, forklifts and picking lifts (if applicable)
• Assists with physical inventory
• Makes recommendations to management with respect to product and process improvements
• Performs other related duties as required

Skills and Abilities

• Applicants should possess the ability to interact with team members in a professional manner.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Training in basic sewing skills preferred.
• Must be able to read a tape measure.
• Requires basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in units of measure.
• Basic mechanical skills including the use of hand tools.
• Basic computer skills preferred, including email and internet

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• 1-3 years of related warehousing or production experience- experience in sewing tarps/awnings or upholstery preferred.
• Experience on single/double needle sewing machines, preferred.
• A high school diploma or GED
• Reliable transportation is a must
• Ability to work overtime, as required
• Ability to work nights and weekends, as required
• Ability to pull, push, grasp, bend, lift and carry up to 50lbs independently on a repeated basis.
• Ability to consistently move throughout the facility during the full workday
• Ability to comprehend work instruction and safety procedures, written or verbally
• Ability to count and measure accurately for cutting and inspecting fabric
• Ability to properly and safely use mechanical equipment and hand tools

Preferred Qualifications

• Industrial setting experience
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints or patterns
