A fixed term Health Care Support Worker vacancy has arisen within the Dalrymple Ward in the Galloway Community Hospital, Stranraer.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate and driven individual to join Dalrymple team.
Dalrymple ward is a 26 bedded ward. 24 beds’ for rehabilitation and a further two beds for palliative care patients.
We are looking for a Health care Support Worker to complement our existing, highly motivated nursing team. You will need excellent communication skills both verbal and non-verbal and have the ability to be a team player. Also written and computer work skills are essential. You will be responsible for providing high quality person centred care to inpatients with a variety of health care needs.
An SVQ level 2 in health and social care or previous experience of working within a health care assistant role would be an advantage.
The successful candidate must be able to work flexible to meet the shift patterns to cover a 24 hour period. The individual must have an interest in older adult nursing and enjoy working in a busy and fast paced environment.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
