Resident Engineer

We are currently seeking an experienced Resident Engineer in Coastal and Maritime Construction Supervision to join the WSP Maritime Team in the United Arab Emirates to oversee the construction supervision of coastal and maritime projects. This role requires a hands-on site leader and team player with a strong technical background and the ability to manage site activities, ensure compliance with project requirements, and deliver high-quality results on time and within budget.
As a Resident Engineer working for WSP, you will play a pivotal role as a key point of contact on-site, providing expert guidance to contractors, monitoring progress, and ensuring successful project delivery. With a focus on technical precision and adherence to safety and environmental standards.
Your new role, what's involved?
- Act as the primary on-site representative for coastal and maritime projects, ensuring works are carried out according to design specifications, approved IFC drawings, and industry standards.
- Supervise the construction of coastal infrastructure, including breakwaters, quay walls, revetments, dredging, reclamation, and other marine structures.
- Manage and monitor daily construction activities to ensure adherence to the project schedule and mitigate delays.
- Review and approve contractor submittals, such as method statements, shop drawings, and material approvals, ensuring compliance with the project scope.
- Conduct detailed site inspections and audits to ensure quality control and health and safety regulations are followed.
- Identify and resolve technical challenges, liaising with the design team, client and contractors to propose practical solutions.
- Chair regular progress meetings with contractors and stakeholders, providing clear updates on performance, issues, and risks.
- Prepare detailed progress reports, including project milestones, construction challenges, and corrective measures.
- Oversee environmental compliance to minimize the impact of construction activities on coastal and marine ecosystems.
- Ensure proper documentation and management of as-built drawings, project records and project closeout procedure.

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in civil engineering, structural engineering coastal engineering or a related field.
- Charted or working toward chartership with the ICE or similar governing body.
- 10 years’ experience in maritime engineering and site construction. UAE and KSA experience advantageous.
- Extensive knowledge of construction methodologies, specifications, and contract administration for coastal and maritime works.
- Ability to prepare and present detailed progress reports and technical documentation.
- A proactive approach to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and environmental protection on site.
