Your role and responsibilities
The Head Sustainability, Security and Safety for Switzerland will lead the development and implementation of sustainability, security and HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) strategies across the country. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, promoting sustainable practices, and fostering a culture of safety within the organization. As a Member of the Country Management Team you will be directly reporting to the Country Holding Officer. You will be mainly accountable for: • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the country’s sustainability, security and HSE strategy in alignment with global and regional objectives. • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations and ABB standards. • Sustainability Initiatives: Lead efforts to reduce environmental impact, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable sourcing. Furthermore, you will be responsible for driving our social progress agenda • Safety Culture: Promote safety through training, awareness programs, and continuous improvement. • Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments, implement control measures, and lead emergency and security planning. • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including authorities (SUVA, EKAS, ESTI, En AW), to advance sustainability and HSE goals. • Performance Monitoring: Monitor, report, and analyze HSE performance metrics, ensuring effective management of HSE, human rights, and security. • Incident Management: Investigate incidents, ensure lessons learned are implemented, and stop activities that do not meet legal or ABB standards. • Team Leadership: Manage and develop the Sustainability, Security & HSE team, ensuring adequate training and professional development. • Strategy Implementation: Drive the implementation of the global Sustainability strategy, including Mission-to-Zero, and support compliance with ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001, 50001).Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related subject
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in HSE-SA and business management.
- Profound knowledge of the Swiss and EU regulatory landscape.
- Crisis management experience.
- Experience in driving sustainability initiatives
- Knowledge of current standards ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001 ff.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Flexible and ability to win recognition.
- Languages: German (C1) and English (B1 or higher). Knowledge of French is beneficial
