Are you an experienced financial consultant with a strong understanding of Nordic donor requirements? LM International is looking for a dedicated and skilled individual to support our efforts to ensure compliance with the financial expectations of key Nordic Institutional donors, with a particular focus on Sida.

LM was founded in Sweden in 1958 and is today an international aid organisation headquartered in Vällingby, Stockholm. We are present in around 30 countries and work on long-term aid efforts to combat poverty, with a focus on livelihoods and food and nutrition security, health, education, and water and sanitation. We also operate in fragile states and conflicts and provide emergency humanitarian assistance.


LM has a long track record of partnering with Sida in various capacities, including direct partnerships for the KAPAME strategy, humanitarian partnerships via IAS and SMC, and development grants as sub-contracted via SMC. We are currently engaged in a strategic partnership with Sida for development cooperation grants and have also submitted an interest for strategic partnership for humanitarian grants. Additionally, we work with other Nordic donors, such as Danida and Norad. To strengthen our compliance and financial operations, we are seeking a consultant to help benchmark our financial procedures against the expectations and requirements of these Nordic donors.


Objective of the Consultancy
The consultancy aims to:

• Assess LM International’s financial policies, procedures, and practices against the requirements of key Nordic institutional donors, focusing on Sida, Danida and Norad.
• Identify gaps, weaknesses, and areas for improvement in our financial handbook, and governance framework for internal steering and control.
• Provide recommendations for alignment with donor requirements and best practices.

Scope of Work
The consultant will undertake the following tasks:



Deliverables and Timeline

• Final Report: Comprehensive analysis comparing LM’s financial procedures with Nordic donor requirements, identifying gaps and providing prioritised recommendations.
• Presentation of Findings: Presentation to key stakeholders summarising findings and proposed actions.
• Timeline: The consultancy will be completed between December 2024 and January 2025.

Qualifications and Experience

• Extensive experience in financial management, auditing, or compliance within the INGO sector.
• Strong knowledge of Nordic institutional donor requirements, particularly Sida, Danida, and Norad.
• Proven experience conducting organisational assessments and benchmarking exercises.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and reporting skills.

Consultants will be selected according to LM’s Procurement procedures for selective tendering. Interested consultants are invited to submit the following:

• A technical proposal outlining the consultant’s understanding of the assignment, proposed methodology, and work plan.
• A financial proposal detailing the consultancy fee and any associated costs.
• A CV demonstrating relevant qualifications and experience.

Reporting and Management
The consultant will report to the Head of Unit for Compliance and Internal Control and will work closely with the finance team. Regular updates will be required throughout the consultancy.
